Future of St Pius X

In May 2025 the Archdiocese of Wellington announced the decision to begin the process to ask the Minister of Education to cancel the Integration Agreement for St Pius X. This process involves consultation with the community by Archdiocesan staff who make a recommendation to the Archbishop to decide whether to continue the closure of the school process by writing to the Minister of Education. 

The school has been reassured by both the Catholic authorities and Ministry of Education that it will remain open for instruction until the end of the 2026 school year. 

School Hours

From 8:50am - 3:00pm        Lunch: 12:35pm - 1:30pm

It is important that children develop punctual habits and arrive at school on time. Classes commence at 8:55am.

Supervision is provided from 8:30am onwards when children are permitted to enter the school buildings.

Care (Manaaki) in our words: We encourage everyone to use positive language, leaving negativity, swear words, and expletives behind, reflecting our care and respect for ourselves and others.

Respect (Whakautea) for All: Respect for each other – students, staff, and our wider community – is essential, fostering a strong sense of belonging and community.

Striving for Excellence (Kairangi): Wearing the correct uniform helps build a sense of belonging and pride in our school, supporting our pursuit of excellence in all areas.

Attendance

Regular attendance of students is required by law.  

If your child is going to be absent, please email, Skool Loop or phone the office by 9am.  

Daily checks are made on all class attendance registers. Late attendance must be communicated through the school office.   

Parents and whanau can also use the School Loop App to advise the office about the child's attendance.

Skool Loop

We encourage parents to download the Skool Loop app. It's a quick way to report absences, see notices, newsletters or book school interviews.

Emergency Contact Numbers

Please ensure that the school is provided with up-to-date home, work and mobile numbers in case of emergency.

An alternative contact, if you are unavailable, is also required along with their contact numbers.

Money and Valuables

Children should not bring money or valuable items to school as we cannot accept the responsibility for such items.

Children's cell phones must be left at the office before school and collected again after school. 

After School Care

If you require after school care for your child or children, there are a number of services in the Bay. The majority of our children attend "Bay Kids Club". The contact person is Eileen Holmes, phone 236-6582 or 021 1241077. 

Scooters and Bikes

Children are allowed to bring scooters and bikes to school. Scooters can used during break times. Bikes are to be parked and remain stationery until the end of the school day. 

Scholastic Book Club

Twice a term flyers from Scholastic as sent out to all children. Purchases can be made for your child by using the online LOOP system.

For every purchase you make our school receives bonus points which can then be used to purchase library books or resources for our school.

Lost Property

Please name ALL of your child's uniform and school items. That way it is much easier to find any lost items if they are named. Lost property can be found in a container in the corridor. 

Stationery

We provide stationery for all students.
