At St Pius X, we nurture the whole child – mind, body, and spirit.
Guided by our Catholic values and Te Whare Tapa Whā, we offer a range of support services to ensure every student thrives, fostering balanced wellbeing across taha tinana, taha hinengaro, taha whānau, and taha wairua.
Sanitarium KickStart Breakfast Club
Free breakfast is available every morning at St Pius X School. The Sanitarium KickStart Breakfast Club is open from 8:15am to 8:45am in the hall. Everyone is welcome to come along to breakfast. We also welcome volunteers who can help us with the breakfast!
Free and Healthy Lunches
Every day our children are provided with a free and healthy lunch through the Ministry of Education's contractor, Kapura. Lunch is served to the children from 1:15pm each day. If your child has any special dietary requirements, please advise the office.
Fruit in Schools
Fresh fruit continues daily. Our children are fortunate to have not only free breakfast and lunch, but also fresh fruit too.
First Aid
Basic first aid is given to our children when required. Senior students are the medical monitors who usually provide this service along with our staff.
Medical Information about your child
Please make sure you advise the office if your child has any medical conditions that we need to be aware of.
Dental Services
Once a year the BeeHealthy van visits our school to check our children's teeth. Notices go home to whanau to advise if any further dental work is required.
Swimming
As part of the physical education curriculum, every child participates in the learn to swim programme each year. Usually the juniors swim at Cannon's Creek pool in Term 1 and the senior students in term 4.
SunSmart
We are a Sunsmart school and for Terms 1 and 4, our children are required to wear the school sunhat (see uniform for more details). Sunscreen is also provided during those terms.
Health Agencies
From time to time, other services are required to provide further assistance to our children, and their whanau as well as the school. Some of these services include - the Health Nurse; the Social Worker in Schools (SWiS); the Resource Teacher of Literacy (RTLit); the Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) or other Learning Support Services. Referrals to these services are co-ordinated by the Deputy Principal and the Kahui Ako Learning Support Co-ordinators (LSCOs).
