St Pius X School History

St Pius X School and The Brigidine Sisters

The Brigidine Sisters have a special place in our school's story. These inspiring women, who came all the way from Ireland, established themselves in Australia and New Zealand with a real passion for education and helping others.

St Pius X School was founded by the Brigidine Sisters in May 1954. The Brigidine values are "strong and gentle" and these are woven into our school’s vision and values:

  • Whakapūmautanga ki Hehu Karaiti - Christ-Centred.
  • Ka mua, ka muri – Forward Thinking.
  • Nga akonga whakahiwa - Actively Engaged Learners who show the CREW values of Care, Respect, Excellence and Wisdom in all that they do at St Pius X School.

Their commitment to nurturing young minds has had a huge impact, and we're so grateful for the Brigidine Sisters' connection to our school and the values they represent.

They remind us of the importance of compassion, learning, and building a strong community – values that are still at the heart of everything we do here.
